VSW reports production output resulting from the first six months of the year 2016

During the first 6 months of the year 2016, Vyksa Steel Works (VSW, Nizhny Novgorod Region, is a part of the United Metallurgical Company (OMK), Moscow) produced 870 thousand tonnes of various tubular goods, which is 22% less than in the same period of the year 2015. VSW also produced 132 thousand pieces of rail wheels, which is 7% less than the output of the first half of 2015.

“In the year of 2015, VSW displayed record-breaking results in tube making, so we anticipated changes during this year. This year, we expect the company to maintain its high tube market share in Russia, including large diameter pipe market. Supplying pipes for the Nord Stream 2 Project, in which the company secured an order for 745 km of pipes, will be supportive of VSW production. We also expect increase in demand for threaded pipes made of high steel grades and premium and semi-premium threaded joint casings. Rail wheel production output continues to be affected by low demand associated with ongoing supply of dumped Ukrainian wheels, in spite of existing protective measures. VSW is working on rail wheel output stabilization by forcedly increasing their export”, VSW Managing Director Alexander Barykov said summarizing the results of the first half-year.
