VSW Reviewed 2017 Production Performance

In 2017, Vyksa Steel Works (AO VSW, Nizhniy Novgorod Region, a United Metallurgical Company (AO OMK, Moscow) Subsidiary) manufactured and shipped over 2 million tons of pipe of various types which exceeds the previous year's performance by 15%.

LSAW pipe production grew 16% to 930,000 tons, small and medium-diameter pipes grew 14% to 1.1 million tons. The manufacture of hot-rolled coils reached a record 1.29 million tons representing an increase of 4%. Wide plate production shrank somewhat to a total of over 660,000 tons. Purchases by RZD helped increase the production of train wheels following the slump during prior years with the amount produced standing at 681,000 pcs.

“VSW's 2017 performance dynamic tracked the demand for steel pipe and train wheels from our principal customers. Based on this year's performance, we recorded growth in almost all product types with the exception of flat goods from Wide Plate Mill 5000 which is related to oil and gas companies revising some of their investment plans. We expect that, during the current year, our capacity will help us meet all the customer requirements”, noted AO VSW Managing Director Alexander Barykov.
